Shed A Light Campaign
OUR GOALS
There is so much need in the mental health community, whether it is legislation to provide
better care and services for our mentally disabled, to fund research for new medications or
offer support to those afflicted with schizophrenia and their families. In Barry’s memory, I
have created the Shed A Light program. Our goals are:
* To raise money for NAMI (the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill).
* Expand education about mental illness and its impact on those afflicted and their families
through writing, public speaking and information on our website with links to other important
resources.
* To provide emotional support for families dealing with mental illness.
* To support organizations such as the Compassionate Friends who provide emotional
support for families who have lost children and adult siblings who have lost a brother or sister.

* Every individual can help us to shed a light on mental illness.

* Consider having us speak at your next event so that we can shed some light on
the importance of helping the mentally ill and putting a real face on the word
schizophrenia or consider offering our Relaxation & Stress Management program
for family members, caregivers and survivors.
* Write your representatives to support mental health initiatives. Visit the NAMI
website to see what issues are in urgent need of your support. Then, find your
representatives at: http://www.us.gov/Contact/Elected.shtml.
* Purchase one of our Shed A Light Gift Packages. These are great for your
personal use or to give as gifts – plus our profits will be donated to NAMI and
other organizations that support patients, families and survivors of mental illness.
* We have chosen All Natural, Gourmet Soy Candles for our Fund Raising efforts.
They are a healthy alternative to paraffin candles, environmentally friendly and
